This dead female phascogale was found killed by a cat and in her pouch were six small young joeys still attached to the teats. The young were rushed to a wildlife carer but they were too small to be hand reared. We estimate the age of the young to be around 38 days which they are fixed to the mothers teats. At 48 days, they drop from the mothers teats into a specially made nest. The mother will return multiple times a night to feed them and keep them warm.
